Stick Bird

Thursday, January 23.

Today, I discovered explodingdog.

if you are happy and you know it clap your hands

This on the heels of (and due to!) KOMPRESSOR. Ah, the world is a happy place again. ADDING UP NUMBERS IS VERY UPLIFTING.

Science!

Tuesday, January 21.

Well, here's my first Guile-let. (Beware the nested center embeddings!) It's vaguely reminiscent of "All your base are belong to us", don't you think? My favorite so far is "all yuppie buy". But we must forge on, from Chomsky to Jackendoff, to make the gibberish...better.

Oh, Alison and I watched Blue Crush last night and I loved it. Great camera work, girls that shred, and an appeal to my Inner Hyatt. I was so stoked that I just had to surf today, and Ian was willing to join. We went to Lindemar, where we ran into "Steve". As in:

Custom for Steve by Michel Junod

This guy paddles up to me and says, "Hey, that's my old board." I responded, "Oh, you must be Steve then."

"Yeah."

Sunday, January 19.

Brendan got hitched! Hooray! It was a very Catholic ceremony, and very beautiful. Congratulations to Brendan and Eleanor. Unfortunately, we took absolutely no pictures, as I was just giddy with excitement just to be there. It was good to see Shaver. It was somewhat disconcerting to see Pavlov in a tuxedo: he looked good, just...Not Your Usual Pavlov. Baby Girl was left in good hands with her Aunt Farmer for the evening, but we still had to leave right after the cutting of the cake.

Threw a party for Becca this afternoon, and a bunch of people came. Marek took a bunch of pictures, I'll have to see if I can snag a few.

I've installed mod_guile on a whim. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do with it yet, though; perhaps turn the innovation bot into something both less and more insane. I wouldn't want to let all the Jackendoff reading I've done go to waste, after all!

Thursday, January 16.

Ready to do that killer startup, but just aren't sure what to do? You're in luck: Vidur and I have concocted the innovation bot. Feel free to patent and run with any ideas it may suggest.
Aha!

Tip o' the cap to the advertising slogan generator, which you can use to sell your wonderful new product.

Should I be embarrassed to put Mozilla on my resume? Probably, seeing as I was one of the thousand monkeys, and probably did more damage than most. But I never referred to myself as an “architect” — at least I'm compentent enough to know I'm incompetent! Dammit, I still blame Kipp! (Okay, I'm still kidding.)

Speaking of which, should I start to work on my resume? Hmm...

But if a man should take knowledge from the place,
Then a thing will come to take the knowledge from the man.
And the man.

Wednesday, January 8.

Workin' from home today while they move our cubibcles from the hallowed halls of Building 21 to the new, sleek, Building 23. It's official, I work for AOL now; my paycheck will no longer say “Netscape”.

To add insult to injury, hyatt has released Safari, a sleek new browser for OS/X based on KHTML. Well, good for them. Really. It's too bad that we couldn't get our act together to make Mozilla something worthy of embedding to start with. I blame Kipp. (Just kidding!)

Tuesday, January 7.

Netscape Surf Camp, Too, went off without serious hitch at Cowell's this morning. John Gaunt to post pictures soon if all goes well. For the curious, the surf was enormous in unexposed areas, and it made for interesting times even in the sheltered haven of Santa Cruz. Kudos to the troopers.

Sunday, January 5.

Climbed to the top of Waterhouse Peak yesterday with the fellas. (Actually, we probably made the peak to the northwest of Waterhouse proper.)

Andre, Caroline, John, and John up at the Cabin this weekend. Fun was had by all.

Wednesday, January 1.

Happy birthday to Phil and Jackie Hay! (Oh, and Happy New Year, too.) We headed to Palo Alto for Jackie's 60th (and Phil's 33rd), and had a grand time. Phil and I pledged (for the umpteenth time) to get the band back together and record all the hits again. Maybe this year we will...
